Temporary Tattoos: A Glimmering Trend That’s Here To Stay

1463e046-95b5-41c5-be1e-b0fc0faa6f62WallpAutoWallpaper2

With growing bohemian-style influences from companies like Child of Wild and Free People, it appears that the rustic and glimmering look of temporary tattoos is a fashion trend that’s here to stay. Inspired by the creativity that emerged from music festivals such as, Burning Man and Coachella, the latest SS15 Collections from Milan and Paris have featured painted gold lip rings and metallic foil – emulating lavish jewellery.

There’s something truly beautiful (and cost effective) behind creating your own gold and silver designs. Instead of incorporating these stencils with their wardrobes, people are literally making them part of their body.

So be as conservative or creative as you’d like and long live the endless summer!

Milan Fashion Week: Fendi Introduces The Orchid Into Their SS15 Collection

Fendi SS15 Collection

Day 2 of Milan Fashion Week saw the likes of Max Mara, Armani and Prada. However, the most striking collection we saw throughout the day came from Karl Lagerfeld, the head designer and creative director of Fendi. Lager’s collection focused on the high velocity movement that is sweeping Fendi into the future. We were left with a “high frequency” technique that managed to inset strips of fabric without stitching to create the kind of seamless, streamlined effect you might get when you look out the window of a fast-moving vehicle. The orchid was also printed, stitched, woven and embroidered into the majority of pieces.

See below for some of our favourite shots. Notice the picture of Karl Lager at the end – 80 years old and still looking like Robert De Niro from the movie, Goodfellas.

Milan Fashion Week 2014: Giorgio Armani Protégé Angelos Bratis Impresses On Opening Day

Angelos Bratis

Angelos Bratis thanks his mentor, Giorgio Armani, at the end of his opening day show – Milan Fashion Week 2014.

80 year old Giorgio Armani has been designing clean tailored looks straight out of Italy for the better part of 4 decades. As is the case with any successful businessman who’s age has finally caught up to his success and fortune, Giorgio will soon be looking to hand the reigns of his company to a bright up-and-coming protégé.

Meet Angelos Bratis

The 36 year old Greek has an MA in Fashion Design and currently lives in Milan where he designs his eponymous collection and works as a consultant for prominent fashion houses. Known for his stand out styles and impeccable technique, Giorgio Armani opted to take the Greek designer under his wing and sponsor his SS15 Collection at Milan Fashion Week.

SS15 Collection

Bratis opted for a pared-down collection in order to showcase his own singular style. What we were left with was a small sample of evening dresses in featherweight textiles, including crepe de Chine and silk twill. Here are some of our favourites from his collection:

The “Heavy Hitter” Guide To Milan Fashion Week 2014

Wednesday, September 17th – Gucci

Expect Frida Giannini, Gucci’s creative director, to elaborate on the poison-flower print that wended its way through her 2015 resort collection:

Thursday, September 18th – Prada

Last year, Miuccia Prada went heavy on the embellishment for a colourful SS14 Collection – with sports and luxe elements. However, evident in her 2015 resort preview, it would appear that the Italian luxury fashion designer will opt for a more conservative and sombre approach:

Friday September 19th – Versace

Heading in the opposite direction of Prada, Versace’s 2015 Resort collection featured a mix of lilac, strawberry and lime – previewing an electric “MTV” vibe to the designers upcoming season. We can expect to see more of the same for the SS15 Collection – vibrant silhouettes, a-line skirts and practical evening wear.

Saturday, September 20th – Giorgio Armani

For his 2015 Resort Collection, Giorgio Armani featured the noncolors of the desert, blasted by sand and wind, and touched them with metallic details. The fabrics (double-faced wool, jacquard organza) were as light as a breeze, and the textures were the ripples of a dune. Expect more of the same from his SS15 Collection.

Sunday September 21st – Dolce & Gabbana

Opting not to go with a 2015 Resort Collection, Dolce & Gabbana designers decided to leave us guessing what they have in store for SS15. Last spring’s collection featured a facet of Sicilian culture: The island’s interaction with Greece in the ancient world. However, if the Men’s SS15 Collection is any indication of what’s to come, we can expect a Spanish influence with emphasis on red and florals.
