A Day Of Beauty With Kaitlyn: Fall Ava Dress

IMG_2746

Check out this beautiful dress I picked up from Cloakroom during summer. I wanted to write about it before the snow hits and this dress has to wait until next year to make another appearance. I fell in love with this dress as soon as I laid eyes on it. The colour, style, fabric and pattern were something I just couldn’t resist. This dress is definitely something you can wear in Summer AND Fall.

Here I paired it with some cute flip flops from ALDO but will be rocking this dress to my brothers rehearsal dinner this week with either some nude heels or some booties (depending on our weather of course.) I totally think this dress is a showstopper! Easy to dress up or down.

What do you guys think?

How To Up Your Brow Game 101

full-eyebrows-are-in-_16001061_58994_1_14096901_500

What you’ll need:

  • Spooly brush or disposable mascara wand
  • Cuticle scissors
  • Angled/slant tweezers
  • Pointed tweezers
  • Brow shadow (taupe for blondes, brown range for everyone else)
  • Stiff brow shadow brush
  • Pencil (to line up the angles)

Product Recommendations: (Click below)

step1

Step 1: With a disposable mascara wand or spooly brush, brush the hairs upward to prepare for Step 2.

step2

Step 2: With a pair of scissors, trim any hairs that are longer than your brow shape.

step3

Step 3: With angled tweezers, pluck areas above and below the brows, grabbing a couple at a time.

step4

Step 4: With pointed tweezers, grab stubborn single hairs and shorter ones.

step5

Step 5: To determine where your brow should start, hold a pencil or make-up brush along one side of your nose. Where it crosses the inner corner of your brow, that’s where it should begin.

step6

Step 6: Now angle the pencil across the iris; that’s where the arch should begin.

step7

Step 7: Angle it to the end of the outer corner of the eye; that’s where the brow should end.

step8

Step 8: With those angles and lengths in mind, fill in the brows using light, feathery strokes as if you were drawing individual hairs.

A Day Of Beauty With Kaitlyn: Makeup Remover

IMG_2056

So, an eyelash tip I always swear by when I am shooting is to curl my lashes and apply waterproof mascara. The reason behind this is that the waterproof formula dries faster and will hold my curl all day and night. I have straight lashes so this is what I do. However, waterproof mascara is a product for the summer – pools, cottages, etc.! It’s amazing but terrible to remove. I found the answer.

The Bi-Facil Double Action Eye Makeup Remover by Lancome is incredible. I apply some to a cotton pad and gently remove any eye makeup, including that waterproof mascara that is so hard to get off. It removes it so easily that I don’t have to tear at my eyes and lashes, as I find other removers sometimes do.

A Day Of Beauty With Kaitlyn: Eyeshadow Primer

photo 1 (1)

It’s been a long day, the temperature outside is scorching, you check your makeup and that beautiful smokey eye you did on your lids this morning hasn’t stood a chance. Your eyeshadow looks creased and is barely visible at this point. I’ve been there and know greasy lids and creased shadow isn’t cute, but I found a product that will keep your eye makeup looking fresh all day and night!!!

Shadow Insurance by Too Faced is the most amazing primer I’ve ever used! Apply a small amount to your lids before you start with your eye makeup and it will do two wonderful things:
1. Conceal any redness or veins that appear on your eyelid &
2. Keeps that beautiful smokey eye, or whatever look you’re going for, on all day and night. You won’t be disappointed

A Day Of Beauty With Kaitlyn: Giorgio Armani For The Win

FullSizeRender (5)

This foundation has been hot, hot, HOT for a while now, but if you haven’t checked it out yet, you definitely should give it a go. This foundation creates such a beautiful, perfect look leaving your face feeling super moisturized, that I actually look forward to putting this makeup on. It goes on like a second skin, doesn’t look like you’re wearing makeup and still has great coverage.

It leaves your skin looking fresh and dewy, which is a great for spring and summer. However, if you do have oily skin, you may want to set your foundation with a powder after.

I use shade 6.5 :)

A Day Of Beauty With Kaitlyn: My Love For BB Creams

FullSizeRender (4)

If you don’t know what a BB cream is, it stands for Beauty Balm cream and they are a godsend when I’m in a rush, traveling, or just don’t feel like putting a full face of makeup on. BB creams are designed to do more than just what a foundation or simple moisturizer can do. They act as an SPF, moisturizer, primer, skin perfecter, all while controlling oil on your face. They are lightweight with minimal coverage but just enough for you to look fresh faced and put together.

My go-to is the Camera Ready BB Cream with SPF 35 by Smashbox. I apply it over a moisturized face, add some bronzer and mascara and I’m out the door. All can be done in under 5 minutes so these BB creams are perfect for the woman, or man, on the go!! Xoxo

A Day Of Beauty With Kaitlyn: Beauty Blender

Kaitlyn Leeb

I absolutely love writing about new products and trends, but I also love writing about things I can’t live without or use every day. If there is one thing that is worth mentioning, it is my Beautyblender. This cute little egg shaped tool will help you put foundation on so effortlessly and fast. It is also the best tool for blending in concealer. Make sure it is damp though because it works so much better that way.

These little guys are around $25, however, if you take care of it and clean it regularly, it will last you a long, long time. I hold my BB under warm running water for about 10 seconds, squeeze out the excess water and start my foundation process. Makeup goes on flawlessly and takes less time than using a brush, especially for concealer.
