Rustic Maka - Skora Bath Salts

As I’m just finishing up a hectic filming schedule shooting both Heartland out west and Shadowhunters here in Toronto, I have made time when I’m home to take a 30-minute bath soaking in warm water and my favourite bath salts of all time. All natural dead sea salt added to my bath have more benefits than just relaxing and enjoying some “me time.” The minerals found in the bath salts help detoxify your skin, relieve stress and muscle ache, improves mood and helps with insomnia, all while infusing your bathroom with the most amazing scent that revitalizes your mind as well.

For that half hour with the lights off, candles lit, some music and my Skora Bath Salts (Citrus Gardens), I feel like I’m in my very own escape and I love every single minute of it. My favourite ladies at Rustic Maka have done it again! Thank you for creating these bath salts that I feel are safe to use, all natural, and truly so enjoyable!

Check out Skora Bath Salts and see all the other scents Rustic Maka has to offer. My favourites are Citrus Gardens and Sweet Lemonade!! Use two generous handfuls in your bath and keep your bath salts sealed properly and in a dry place!

Love,

Kaitlyn Leeb

A Day Of Beauty With Kaitlyn: Fall Ava Dress

IMG_2746

Check out this beautiful dress I picked up from Cloakroom during summer. I wanted to write about it before the snow hits and this dress has to wait until next year to make another appearance. I fell in love with this dress as soon as I laid eyes on it. The colour, style, fabric and pattern were something I just couldn’t resist. This dress is definitely something you can wear in Summer AND Fall.

Here I paired it with some cute flip flops from ALDO but will be rocking this dress to my brothers rehearsal dinner this week with either some nude heels or some booties (depending on our weather of course.) I totally think this dress is a showstopper! Easy to dress up or down.

What do you guys think?

How To Up Your Brow Game 101

full-eyebrows-are-in-_16001061_58994_1_14096901_500

What you’ll need:

  • Spooly brush or disposable mascara wand
  • Cuticle scissors
  • Angled/slant tweezers
  • Pointed tweezers
  • Brow shadow (taupe for blondes, brown range for everyone else)
  • Stiff brow shadow brush
  • Pencil (to line up the angles)

Product Recommendations: (Click below)

step1

Step 1: With a disposable mascara wand or spooly brush, brush the hairs upward to prepare for Step 2.

step2

Step 2: With a pair of scissors, trim any hairs that are longer than your brow shape.

step3

Step 3: With angled tweezers, pluck areas above and below the brows, grabbing a couple at a time.

step4

Step 4: With pointed tweezers, grab stubborn single hairs and shorter ones.

step5

Step 5: To determine where your brow should start, hold a pencil or make-up brush along one side of your nose. Where it crosses the inner corner of your brow, that’s where it should begin.

step6

Step 6: Now angle the pencil across the iris; that’s where the arch should begin.

step7

Step 7: Angle it to the end of the outer corner of the eye; that’s where the brow should end.

step8

Step 8: With those angles and lengths in mind, fill in the brows using light, feathery strokes as if you were drawing individual hairs.

Rustic Maka: Made In Nature

IMG_2648

As I’ve gotten older, what goes into my body or on it has become more and more important to me. There was a time when the word “organic” was so foreign to me, it had no impact on my purchase decisions at all. Now, those are exactly the type of words I look for when buying products, especially for myself.

An odd product to discuss is deodorant but it’s something we use everyday. After my Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer a couple of years ago, finding a natural, organic deodorant was a priority. Something that was not as easy as I had thought. That was until I came across Rustic Maka. Their patchy deodorants are amazing. They smell so great, last all day and are easy to throw in your bag if you need to use it later. My favourite scents are the “Sweet Lemonade” and “Calming Fields”. But they have so many others you definitely should check them out!!

A Day Of Beauty With Kaitlyn: Makeup Remover

IMG_2056

So, an eyelash tip I always swear by when I am shooting is to curl my lashes and apply waterproof mascara. The reason behind this is that the waterproof formula dries faster and will hold my curl all day and night. I have straight lashes so this is what I do. However, waterproof mascara is a product for the summer – pools, cottages, etc.! It’s amazing but terrible to remove. I found the answer.

The Bi-Facil Double Action Eye Makeup Remover by Lancome is incredible. I apply some to a cotton pad and gently remove any eye makeup, including that waterproof mascara that is so hard to get off. It removes it so easily that I don’t have to tear at my eyes and lashes, as I find other removers sometimes do.

A Day Of Beauty With Kaitlyn: Shimmering Highlighter

image1 (7)

So I finally jumped on the highlighter bandwagon after a makeup artist applied it to my face for a wedding earlier last month. Since then, I kind of fell in love with the look, especially for summer!!!

I picked up the Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Powder in Opal by Becca. I chose this colour due to my skin tone and loving the golden pearls coming through, but Becca has a number of different shades that will match other skin tones as well. I apply it after my makeup is done to the top of my cheekbones, a little down my nose, above my brows and above my cupids bow. The pressed powder will produce the most shimmer, so go easy on the coverage but the results are beautiful. Perfect for a summer wedding, party or even just to brighten up your look. ☺

A Day Of Beauty With Kaitlyn: Morning Cleanser

image1 (6)

I know I have raved about my night time facial cleanser (Frothy Face by Origins) a couple of times in my previous posts but realized I had never talked about my morning cleanser that I can’t live without and have been using for years!

As part of my morning routine, I wash my face with Aveeno’s Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser before applying my daily moisturizer. This cleanser is so gentle on my skin yet it leaves it feeling clean, fresh and ready to take on the day…and my makeup ;).
